Default white smoke

towards the end of the season i was out riding, i did a burnout not a really long one, but my bike started to pour white smoke from my exhaust. i thoughti prolly blew the head gasket, but i wanted to make sure that that is the problem b4 i tear the engine apart. does anyone know what else i could haver done, or what to look for? the bike died out when i let off the throttle. i started it and let it run for a bit, the smoke stopped and i was able to ride it home, but if i tried goin higher than 7 grand, it would pour smok again. i stopped riding it after the second time.

White smoke out of the exhaust is a tell-tale sign of a blown head gasket. Do you realize just how hard a burnout is on these motors?

Yup; it's a head gasket. Take a peek at your oil for contamination, while you're at it. Not a horrible job to replace. Clean everything on the cylinder top end with a Scotch Brite pad and acetone, and don't over-tighten initially until the goo sets; typically about 24 hours. If you're running dino oil (versus synthetic) you may have a bit more cleaning to do, but take the time to do it right. Label your parts; bolts, etc., to get them back into their familiar (i.e. mated) positions. Take photos for your bike's record. Future owners will thank you or think you're **** (but that's okay; there are plenty of the other type out there...)
