Default Washing and waxing your bike

So, I've managed to collect a whole bunch of bugs on my windshield in the first 600 miles (yes, I'm taking it in for it's first service already...), and I need to give my new baby some TLC. What do you guys use to wash & wax your bikes? And is waxing the tank where your knees/legs grip a problem? I don't know if I'd want that area to be super-slick... Sudden stops might just hurt a whole lot if it were. [:'(]

I just use my regular car wash to wash the bike (I used to use TurtleWax car wash but I have switched to Simple Green) I love the wax that TurtleWax makes, so that I what I use on my car and my bike. I wax the fairings, tank, and other plastics on the bike. That's it (oh yeah, I used something on my exhaust - some sort of chrome polish that my dad had so I don't know what it is, sorry)

I don't wash my bike... cause of all the polished peices.. it makes drying the bike a pain in the a$$

I use simple green, and a soft rag to get all the bugs and grim off, then I wax the bike
you shouldn't have a prob with the tank just use a good wax.
