Default Vulcan trip meter question

I have a 2006 vulcan 1500 classic. My trip meter reads more miles traveled than what I actually travel. Speed seems to off by 5mph more than what I am actually moving. Is there any way to fix this? Also I did not get the owners manual with the bike..yet.. two things I am trying to figure out are how do I get the seat off and how much air is normal in the shocks?

Any help is appreciated.

Seat removal is 2 bolts (with allen key heads) under the rear of the seat where it meets the rear fender, and a single bolt at the very back of the pass. seat.

NOW:
If you have a key hole on the left side cover, below the seat, it'll will release the seat with the ignition key. (less than a 1/4 turn) And, in that year, there was an issue with the cable on the key version, coming loose and the key not working at all.

FYI:
Both versions were used in 06 and 07 dependent on type of model.(there were 6 variations of Vulcan, Classic, Nomad, Tourer, etc...)
