alright, im new to motorcycles, i picked up an 07 vulcan 500 last week and it has been running perfectly, but today i was riding, then went to start it up afterward and it started fine....but then when i went into first and tried moving off it died....it wont move off now, it just dies

what does this mean? how do i fix it?

SO I have this straight..... Bike starts and idles fine, but as soon as you release the clutch to move, she dies?

If the kick stand is down, it is designed to die while in gear. If your kick stand is up, and it dies, I would check the kickstand switch.
