Squeak / Squeal
2004 2000cc vulcan has had a squeek since new. Its getting worse. (21k ) Everybody can hear it. No one seems to be able to pinpoint the problem.Belt tension has no effect.Won't make noise on jack, Has to be going down the road under lite to moderate acceleration.
Some one has to been able to fix this. I'm guessing it's common. Have others had this problem and what did you do to fix it?

Wheel bearing? Brake pads? What kind of squeak? (Like a harmonic vibration--brake pad, or a metal to metal abrasion?) General location (front/rear)? Does it go away when you apply brakes or turn L/R? Are your tires in alignment and axles tight? I assume it's not coming from the engine area?

Squeak does not change when riding brakes on and off, swaying L+R doesnt effect it. tightining or loosening belt has no effect. Sonds like a brake squeak and its getting quite loud. Other riders around me can hear it clearly. Im thinking its from the rear bearing or possably the clutch area. Tough to pin point as I can only get it to make the noise while driving down the road.Does it in all gears under any kind of acceleration from moderate to hard accel.

Any chance you can get another buddy on his bike on a backroad, and ride side by side at a reasonable speed, to better pinpoint?
Might also check for excessive heat, dust, visible signs of wear at suspected area. If it's rubbing hard enough to squeek that loud, it's probably also getting hot. (Wouldn't go laying my hand on the clutch cover at end of ride; obviously, but you get the idea.) Might check your hubs/bearings and brakes (while you're doing it.) Sometimes you just gotta begin dissecting....

Welcome to KF as mentioned above, it would be nice to know how the rotors look. I would prolly check and change out the brake fluid, scuff up the existing pads to see if that may help. when was the yearly fluid and brake checks done?
