Default Shock recharge

Today I removed the shocks, and brought them to K S cycle works to have them recharged with nitrogen. These KYB shocks have a membrain style fill that reguires a hyperdermic type needle to fill them instead of a standered schraider valve like on the wheels of our bikes. It took me two days to find some one with the proper tools/set up. The coast was $30 total for both. After being 4 years old,and 4000miles they were down to 30 psi. They are suposed to be at 150 to 200 psi depending on rider weight. I got mine charged to 175 psi,and this will make a big improvment on the handling. Not all models are serviceable so cheak with your service manual or dealer. Only 4000 miles!!! I bought it Dec 5,2004 with 1400 miles on her so after tomorrows ride I should have 4250 not to bad for 2 months of ownership, and finding time between work, weather, kids, wife, and house work.

Cool - I bought mine Dec 4, 2004, I hope I am as lucky as you to find time to ride.

I wasn't looking too hard actually. I put a post on a local forum (nbriders) cause a friend of mine suggested that I start there. I got info on about 5 or 6 bikes, a couple of them were out of the province so it would have been hard to look at them. There were a few that I just wasn't interested in as they had some damage and as far as I was concerned, they wanted too much money for them considering the price of a new one. The one I bought though, I got info from the guy and he mentionned that the front rim was off a 98 cause he hit a rock on the road. My dad figured the bike wouldn't be worth looking cause he thought that there might be damage to the steering head, frame and what not (depending on how the guy hit the rock). Anyways I looked at an 89 with my dad, it was a piece of crap so he suggested we go look at the one I ended up buying. The bike was in awesome shape and turns out the guy hit the rock on the side of the tire, slashed the tire and dented the rim. So he replaced it. Well, I managed to get a good deal on the bike and the guy delivered it to me (we were about an 1 hour and a half drive apart). All in all, I spent about a month looking.
