Default Rusted ninja ex250 Gas tank..

So, as a continuation from my other thread, I've decided to try and re-line the tank on the little ninja. I'll post my plans and what not here, and if you spot something, feel free to point out my errors, or ideas that might make things go smoother. If all goes well, I'll put a 'guide' together and send it over to the DIY section.

So, current plans.

1. Use some muriatic acid and some bb's to clean out the inside of the tank.
2. Use some M.E.K. to get all the water/moisture out of the tank.
3. use Kreem tank liner to seal stuff up. (I know, I know, step 3 is supposed to be profit.)

I'll need to fabricate a little stand so I can prop the tank on its sides and ends and what not for the acid bath. and maybe get some really decent gloves. Anyone know how nitrile gloves do vs. muriatic acid?

Didn't the 250's have a common rust through problem as well on their tanks??? That alone makes me think to forget the rusted tank and start fresh.

Its a $$ thing... With a new tank running 500.00, (haven't found anything cheaper online yet that wasn't leaking or rusting already) i'm gonna give this a go. If I can get it cleaned and sealed, for $40.00, it'll have been worth it.

OTOH, do you guys know of any good motorcycle salvage place I might be able to troll for tanks?

After you do the muratic acid bath, be sure to rinse the living **** out of it. That stuff will settle in the crevices and make a mess of the Kreem if you don't.

ive always wondered if you could put ball bearings or some kinda of sand blast media inside the tank... wrap it up in a blanket and maybe some foam before wrapping it in a blanket, then go to a laundromat and put it in one of those huge dryers... load it up with coins and let it go....... call me crazy or stupid... lol it would be like a rock tumbler...
