Runs while fuel petcock is off?
So I'm new to motorcycling and I got myself a KZ650. I took a course to learn how to ride and they explained everything very well. The only thing they didn't explain is the fuel petcock. From my understanding it controls where in the tank the fuel comes from: On is the top, Res is the bottom, and Off means no fuel. The problem is my bike runs with the petcock at Off; in my head this means no gas should reach the chamber, therefore no explosion and the engine shouldn't run. But my bike starts and runs while it's at off. Is this normal or is it a problem?

Welcome to KF.
If there is still fuel in the carb bowls, the bike will start and run for a short period of time. And if the bike still operates with the petcock in the off position, rebuild the petcock since it would be leaking. good luck and congrats on the ride.

Absolutely correct When I sync the carbs on my ZRX, its using the fuel in the bowls that keeps it running. And this takes me like 5-8 minutes to do. As D said, if you run it for a few minutes and its still not wanting to stall, rebuild the petcock.
