Over heating problem?

RE: Over heating problem?
I dont think your thermo is out if your temp is falling when you start to move. Also that fan isnt ment to keep your engine temp down in extreme weather, more or less to to keep the temps from flying of the charts between lights. Either way it is not a bad idea to give it a radiator flush and new fluids. With your brake fluid change I would just buy one of those brake bleeder pumps, and attach it to the bleeder on the caliper and pump away while adding new fluid at the same time to keep the resavor from emptying, and sucking in air. You dont want air in your brake lines. Also when you close the bleeder valve tighten it befor you take the bleeder tool off, this will allow air not to enter your brake system. good luck... Oh btw welcome to the forums and enjoy your stay.

Thanks for the suggestion lemac. I talked to a buddy of mine and he told me during bike week the temp on his bike went up to about 260 and it didn't effect his bike at all. I am still going to change out the fluid just incase but I am no longer really worried about it.
I went to a new shop around here and they have coolent that is already premixed and all. Do different brands offer a cooler bike temp or are they all the same?

As far as coolant goes I would stick with green stuff I've heard water weter works for a few degrees cooler if you want to try that. You just add it to your 50/50 pre mixed coolant that your going with. Some people say just use water and add the water weter, but the coolant acts as a lub. and anti corrosion agent as well as heat distributant. All in all me personally would go the 50/50 route. jmo good luck on it.

ok, so you checked out the above responses. Radiator is clean of mud and blockages. The cap was removed while idleing, mixture is correct, stat is operational and it was mentioned to flush the system. Did I miss anything guys?
