Default Oil Cooler Hose Leak???

While cleaning my 07 636 today I noticed something strange..... On the oil cooler located just behind the headers, I noticed 2 lines going into the oil cooler. One of the lines was fine and the other had some black gunk which accumulated where the hose meets the cooler just under the clamp. I figured that the fitting was loose so I cleaned the goo off and discovered that it was not oil, but was a gray colored putty like substance (the black color was just all the road grime that had accumulated). I think that the gray putty may be some type of sealant but don't know for sure. My oil and coolant levels are normal and the bike runs fine, I also haven't noticed any fluid leaks or puddles on or under the bike's cowling. Judging by all that road grime build up, I think this may have occurred a while ago and I just never noticed it. Anyone know if this is a sealant installed at the factory????
