Default Oil cooler 05 ZX-6RR

Anyone heard of the oil cooler on this bike breaking? It is leaking oil.

Thanks,

Chris

Are you sure it's not just a bad line seal?

Yea, my mechanic is telling me this. It doesn't leak that bad unless it is being revved high. I guess I should have put this under the Ninja part of these forums. Not used to the layout of this site.

More people will see your tech message in general tech anyway.

I doubt this is a common problem. Likely, if the cooler has soldering points, it is leaking from a broken solder. Otherwise corrosion probably has caused a leak somewhere. Replacing the cooler should be a snap though.

The bike isn't with me right now. Replacing it is not hard. Just super f-ing expensive.

Was just curious as to where the leak was.

The area behind the mounting flang on the outside. There is a seam between the flange and the cooler that is leaking under load.

Nope, the seal was fine. Outside the cooler so basically the cooler itself was broken. I think it was defective but $125 for a used one fixed my problem so I am happy.
