I have a 97 ZX-7R, i just got the carbs syncronized, did a complete tune up, run nothing but 91 octane, put some carb cleaner in the fuel tank, and my bike is getting the crappiest gas mileage. I bought it a month ago so i dont know of any underlying factors. Im getting less than 100 miles to a 4.8 gallon tank..... Any ideas what it could be???

 

what kind of work do you have on the bike? I'm getting just a little over 100 with my 636. If I am doing twisty backroads I will get less then 100 for a tank.

 

I bought it like this, but i think there is a stage 1 jet kit, full muzzy, i dont think there is much more... it also kinda hesitates outta 1st, maybe cuz the sprockets were dropped a tooth in the front and back???

 

oh and this is on the highway...

 

Any gas in the oil???

 

i dont think so... i just did an oil change and it seamed normal...

 

That is good. What does your plugs tell you and the exhaust tip? How aboutthe seat of the pants dyno run?

ive always been a car guy... this is my first bike... is it hard to rebuild the carbs??? if i buy a kit will it come with everything ill need, of will i have to go back to the shop several times??? how much would someone charge to do that type of work???
