kz650 fuel
i have an 82 csr kz650. it has always run very well, but about a week ago it started leaking fuel out of the petcock. so i got a petcock kit and put that in. it doesnt leak anymore, but it floods itself. fuel just pours out of the larger hole on the petcock (the one that points toward the right side of the bike). is there supposed to be a continuous stream of fuel out of that? when the bike is started, the smaller of the two hoses that connect to the petcock has suction. is that the main fuel source when the bike is running? how does that damn thing work? any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

RE: kz650 fuel
I believe your larger hose is your reserve. And it should always be full of fuel, and will therefore fill that hose when you are in the res or on position on the petcock. I noticed this when I took my tank off recently. That's how I emptied it, to line it. When you go to the on position it closes off the smaller hose which is where you normally get your fuel. and you are ablke to run on your reserve to get to the gas station. (i Think this is how all this is I'm still new to bike's, but this was my experience when I took my 1986 ZL 600 apart a couple weeks ago.) In the off position it should stop though. All of your questions therefore can be answered in the affirmative then. Someone else may post and tell you I'm all wrong and I wouldn't find that too shocking. Good luck though.
