kx 500
hard to start. fuel i think. help. need sugestions. just picked it up. starts very hard. i know its a 500 but still a 2stroke. and i'm not a small guy. compresion is good. when started runs like a bitch that just cheated on her husband. fast. any sugestions. i'm getting a good spark... its an 86 that's bee sitting in a garauge for 13 years. great conndition. just this stupid starting process. ha iguess if it don't start its not i great shape. hehehe.
What do you mean "hard to start?" (I've got a Husky 390sitting in the garage.) Ifyou mean it's not firing on the 2nd or 3rd kick, that's a choke problem. If you mean it doesn't fire at all(and you've checked the plug for spark) that's another problem. Need more details.
Big bore 2 strokes are kinda lacking in the choke area on initial start. I flood mine by tipping it until you see fuel running out the overflow, get it upright, find the highest compression stroke of the kicker, then kick. 1 time kick starts. Of course you still use the choke during this process.
