Default Ignition circuit dead

My wife has a 2004 800 Vulcan Classic due to my health issues she hasn't been riding it. I charged the battery, and when I turn the key on, push the starter button, it sounds as though the relay switch clicks and then everything goes dead. If I wait a few turn the key off then on lights come on, push the starter button, starter relay click and everything goes dead. Desperate for help, any ideas?

Welcome to KF

so the ride has been sitting. Check the battery condition as well as the ground. And if the ride sits out in the weather, check the switches. Good luck

+1.
sounds like the battery is just trashed.

meter it and watch the loaded and unloaded voltage. if its 12ish Vunloaded (no starter key off,) then drops to 11ish volts maybe with the key on, then drops well below that while cranking, replace it. it shouldn't really drop below 11 V or so

welcome to KF!!!
