i'm gonna hafta look into cleaning my carbs tomorrow. i've never done it, or anything with my bike, other than an oil change so it should be interesting. any tools/etc i'll need other than to get teh gas tank off? total noob when it comes to bike mechanics

Nothing too special really. Write down how many turns of the a/f screws in your manual for reference. I like soaking the hard parts in my parts cleaner before scrubbing and then just scrub them down. Inspect all rubber boots and gaskets when reinstalling the rack. Then I throw on my sync gauges to verify I did not screw that up.

thanks, i'm gonna meet up with another rider that has a 500 and has done the maitenances before.
