hi forum how are u? 1986 ZX6R probs HELP!
So I rebuilt the engine of my 1986 zx6r moto...Went to fire it up today and wasn't even able to get the lights and intruments to turn on. Pathetic I know I know. Bike engine was sealed and out for 1 winter in my hometown of Modesto, Ca last year. Brought it in shined it up. I want to fire it up. Could the wiring harness being exposed to the elements most likley water be the cause of all this. Its another $200.00 for it, just thought I'd ask some of you cool guys and gals for your opinions. All respones welcome! Thanx a bunch!

welcome to KF! im from modesto origanally now SF bay area. to answer ur question the wires them selves are sealed as long as the connectors are dry and not rusted it should be fine. did you check ur fuses? and is the batttery good?
Hoedogg thanx for replying...Battery is good, fuses good, no rust at all...I'm beginning to think I grounded it improperly... Wiring diagram from my book was stolen with my car lol Dealership doesn't have it (wiring diagram) for anything older than 1990. Couldn't quite figure out where to ground battery, starter...and a blue wire w/red stripe covered by black casing...Any tips or perhaps you could tell me were on the net I could find my diagram. Maybe I'll just try regreouding them beore work. Hope my bike doesn't catch fire hahaha! Hey thanx again

I'm doing good Isaac, thanks for asking... Besides your bike not working how are you doing?
I think it's time to bust out the volt-ohm-multimeter... see if there is any major resistance between any ground point and the neg. termanal on the batt... If so you know that component isn't grounded properly...
