Help With My Clutch Please!!!!
I just bought a 600 ninja its a 1993 it starts up fine and runs good but when you go to take off as soon as you start letting out on the clutch it dies completely like you shut off the key or something. if you rev it up really high like to 6 grand and slowly let out it will go. anything will help. you can send me a private message or just reply to this thanks. i also think it may be the kickstand safety switch
+1
drags the man..
definitely meter the switch out. both that one, the clutch engagement switch on the back side of the lever, and your neutral switch..
neutral -you can test to ground since thats what it does anyway.. it provides a path to negative or "ground" to the case for the light and CDI interrupt circuit.
the same circuit will have a open loop with the clutch switch and kickstand switch in it. i want to say the k.s. switch will be closed (.001 ohms) when up and open (no resistance) when down.. i may be backwards however.. nonetheless.. infinite and 0 will be the end result in the test in some form..
check to see if the clip and screws that secure your clutch switch are still there... if they're broken, or the switch is out of alignment, it'll throw ya off as well...
unless you have an atrocious mechanical binding, this should be the remedy.. it should still kill the motor even when feeding the clutch from 6krpm tho..
good luck, and welcome to the fam!! have fun bro..

thanks i will ave to try that to see if it works. also it seems like its missing and it bogs down real bad i thought it might be the plugs but they are new so any ideas will help
thats probably fuel management or filter related crap there.. does it what kind of load does it sputter at? is it heavy in a top gear? light.. in neutral with no load?... all those are different problems..
Hey, the same thing happened to me. I took off the gas tank, cleaned it out cleaned out the lines and used carb cleaner with the tank off while it was running for about 5 mins. I put it back together, it ran like crap for about 10 mins then cleared up and worked fine. I hope that helps you a bit.
