Welcome to KF! Yes the 400's could be had here in the US on an order basis. But the 600 and 750 classes were more important to some. I still want a 400. Not sure if I have a manual on it or not. My main system is down at the time where my manuals are stored. Continue searching and congrats on the ride.

any parts place, stealership, or motorcycle salvage yard should be able to hook you up with that.

you have a few options...
1. look up the specs and buy directly from a place in japan
2. find an authorized j-spec or oem distributor in the good 'ol U S of A
3. if you're crafty, you can cross reference the cdi from a current or popular machine, and make it work for your bike

check the usual for that... make sure it will work with the trigger coil assembly, that it'll administer the correct timing offset (like if stock called for 10deg. BTDC), that it won't be a p.o.s. and problematic, its got enough primary voltage to run the sparkplug coil..

dirtbikes aren't really my specialty, so i wish i could tell ya some motor specs, but i can't.. look up some online reviews. i get alot of good info from those!!
and...

and merry non-denominational, non-discriminatory celebratory times! YAY!

thats a cute little bike. Man that would be great with a H1 triple in it, or an RD400 motor.

Repair manual. Absolutely get one. Diagnose the problem yourself. That'd be my recommendation.
