Default Help...My 636 won't start

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and was hoping to get some help from some other Kawi riders. I crashed my bike earlier this month doing a trackday. My bike sustained front end damage mostly. The slip on Yosh pipe also got a bit bent but nothing too bad. In any case, when I picked my bike back up I noticed that the part of the wiring harness that attaches to the back of the odometer unit was disconnected and damaged. I have since replaced the wiring harness, only to find that the starter motor turns but the engine doesn't turn. On the odometer meter, the neutral light is displayed and the fuel injection is blinking like crazy when I try to start the bike.

Not sure if my odometer is messed up or if something with the pipe is causing the problem and if I should put the stock pipe back on.

Any thoughts from anyone? Thanks very much.

P

Not sure on your 6r, but look in your manual for a code on the flashing. Any other mods done to the ride?

Something else I noticed.....the bike is hard to push when in 1st gear even though I have the clutch pulled in......I wonder if the engine is just seized? Would this however, cause the bike to be hard to push when in gear??

so you crash on the left side of the bike, you didn't mention this earlier. The clutch lever is in what condition, which means how is the cable adjustment condition?

Sorry but I have a newbie question.....how did you know I crashed on the left side? The clutch lever is fine and when I pull it the tension seems like it was before, however, at the other end of the cable I'm not sure what I should looking for (i.e. spring plate free play measurement, etc.)

Thanks

I don't know. Check the clutch adjustment or shifter with what you described so far. Was the shift lever bent? Any other noticeable damage?

Shift lever was bent but only slightly. The last tumble the bike had before this one was on the left side also. That crash was hard enough to have cracked open the stator cover. However, when I replaced the cover, the bike started with no difficulties. Maybe this last fall was too much for the starter motor clutch and there was damage? I'll inspect and update. Thanks.
