Default does not want to warm up

Hey ya'll Im new to thishere form...that's hillbillie speak JUST KIDDING I have all my teeth

I have a 98Vulcan Classic 1500, got it from my Sergeant while I was deploy to Iraq. Great Bike!

We just had two days of cold wheather in MD so I could not ride. The last two days I went ride cause the temp was better. Now when i go to start it and let it warm up (carb w/ choke and I think there may be a spring problem on the choke) it seams like it does not want to warm up, cause when I let the choke in it will cut out...keeping it revved up will keep it running, and I can ride it around my driveway and it's fine...as soon as I stop konkout...

thoughts please...plenny of power when it ran rite...what do uh think air filter or maybe fual filter what?

Iam a computer geek so I need hehp...

Welcome whiteboy: I would say you should probably go through her pretty well starting with:
- plugs, check to see if they are fouled and the gap is correct, hell I would just replace and install with the proper gap
- air cleaner, clean or replace if needed.
- fuel filter, clean or replace if needed.
- check the idle adjustment, turn up to idle at 1200. See if that gets it idling.
- check the choke cable and see if it is activating the choke properly also make sure it is disengaging as well.
- Valve adjustment, this may require shop work, check your owners manual for recommended mileage for vale adjustment.
If you do not have the manual, you can call the dealer and ask them.
- spark plug cables, no cracks, nice and flexible. If cracked and hard, replace.

There is probably more and I am sure others will add to the list but this is a good place to start.

thanx 4 the advise but the strangist thing, it started today and has NO problems...the only thing that might have helped is when i took off the aircleaner and fresh air cover and then started let it run for a while just idling and put the cover all back...thanx for reminding me about the spark plug wires tho...[sm=bling.gif]

My friend had the same problem the other day with his bike. All it was is that his bike was cold and it flooded when he was trying to stat it. But it's running great now.

Might be a sign that your thremastat is sticking open. With the coolent flowing all the time it'll never warm up.
