Default do you really need a battery tender?

If you just disconnect the battery through the winter or whenever your not riding.....will that be fine or get a battery tender instead? I know everyone is going to say get the tender, but is it really neccessary?

a battery will lose amps even if disconnected. a battery tender will keep your battery at peak amperage.

Definitely buy one. You probably won't use it during the summer if ride the bike a lot. During the winter though, remove the battery, and keep it on the auto charger.

the battery listed for my zx6r is a 50$ battery. a battery tender is about 18$

the battery tender is a much better investment than completely draining and destroying a battery and needing to buy a new one.

I'd also advise taking your battery indoors during the winter; house, basement, somewhere to avoid freezing the electrolyte. Use the tender; they work.

I bolted up the quick connect attatchment to the battery on my 05 ZX6r - it is a quick connect near the rear shock- and hooking it up is SOOO much easier rather than having to remove the seat and lift the tank everytime i have to hook up the tender.

WELL worth the investment. unless you want to either buy a new battery.... or have to jump start your bike by running along side it
