Default Cooling Fan wont stop Running

Hello,

I have recently purchased a VN1500 (1995). Its a great bike however I have had a few issues with it. The starter motor burnt out. I removed it and overhauled it, then reinstalled. The starter motor worked, great! I refilled the coolent and went off to work.

When I returned that cooling fan had started running and wouldnt stop! I pulled the fuse out which stopped the fan. I have since replaced the fuse and the fan stays off for a while but will start of its own accord and does not stop.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks

Greg

Rud, welcome to the forums. First, double check the wiring and make sure all the connections on your install are good. Second, did you get ALL the air out of your rad? If there's an air bubble in there, it might be tripping the temp sensor. It's possible the temp sensor might be going sour, but I suspect it's a bubble. Should be a bleeder screw down near the water pump on your engine. Bleed until no bubbles. Tighten. Run the engine for about 5-10 minutes with the rad cap off to make sure the air is out. Let us know if that helps.
Welcome again. Gear up; stay safe.

Welcome to KF

Yeah, almost sounds like you need to "Burp" the coolant system as mentioned.
