Default Clutch Removal

I've had two different shops tell me that my problem with my '03 636 was a bent fork in the transmission... Not wanting to pay over a grand to have someone else do it I'm rebuilding the tranny myself (Thank God for the service manual and used parts off ebay!!!) on the weekends when I'm not in college... I currently have almost everything removed from the engine and am ready to drop the engine out the bottom. The one thing I haven't been able to get past is removing the clutch...

I got all of the plates out easy peasy, but I can't seem to get the 1"+ nut (I think it is 27 or 28 mm) off of the shaft to completely remove the primary and secondary. I know I'm supposed to use the special "clutch removal tool" to keep it from spinning (didn't have one last weekend) so I jury rigged some rubber, and binder straps to keep the clutch from spinning, but I couldn't muscle it loose. (I also didn't have the exact size socket so I was using one a hair too big and didn't want to risk stripping it)

Is there any chance that nut is left hand threaded? the service manual didn't say so, but it isn't perfect either...

And I already talked to the local shop, they said they would lend me their "clutch removal tool" and the special socket to remove the main engine mount bolts with only a $50 security deposit... So the jury rigging won't be necessary again.

As usual THANKS for all of your advise!

It is recommended to replace that hub nut with a new one during install. Look at the threads to tell on the direction of removal. Good luck.
