Default cleaing up the exhaust

Hey all.
the exhaust on my Zx750 f4 is pretty dirry, and really rusted.. not rusted through, but it will one day if i don't take care of it.
what i'd like to do is take it off and sandblast it clean, then polish it up and make it nice and shiny.
is there anything i could put on it as a sealant.. a high temp glossy paint or clear coat??
i want it on the headers and the mufflers.

Well at any auto store they have radiator putty which you can use to fill it whatever you need. That could work as a type of bondo but you have to get it really hot for a while, repeatitly for it harden properly. You should be able paint it with some high temp engine paint no problem but don't expect it to be perfect. You can try but I suspect it won't sand great....use only really fine paper.

Make sure you cover all your rust with rust destroyer or convertor...whatever one....first!!!!

If you sand blast it make sure you don't make any holes if its eaten through really far....if it is use the convertor.

look at a place called eastwood www.eastwoodco.com they have something called lab metal that will fix any holes or imperfections in metal. as far as sand blasting it, i would strongly recamend it to be glass bead blasted and then polished. the glass bead wont destroy the pipe as fast as regular media blasting will and if your going to polish it the glass will leave a smooth dull like aluminum finish on the pipe thats easier to bring to a luster when polishing it up.

If ya want a quick fix and the rust is just on the surface and not deep then just get 1400 grit wet sand paper with a bucket of water or hose and lightly sand it while keeping it wet. Then use the power ball its a round buffing ball used on a drill to polish metals out and it works really good. I think ya can get it at a local parts store. btw its a "mothers" product.
