i just bought a 2006 zx6r with 1200 miles not too long ago. it has a two brothers slip on dual exhaust and some other odds and ends. I just changed the oil in it for the first time and for some reason when i go into high rpms it blows out a good amount of black (carbon) smoke. Is this because of how new the bike is with such low miles, and how its never really been pushed into the high rpm range or is it something else like the two brothers exhaust, spark plugs, injectors, etc.?

 

Nice ride, sounds like your new toy is not fully setup. Could be a lack of the open road, but what caused the issue? Prolly needs a fine tuning.

 

well the first guy who owned it put 400 miles on it and never really rode it hard....my buddy bought it off of him and babied it as well....then i bought it off of him...so im assuming i need to ride it more often and ride a little harder?

 

With such a low mileage I'd suspect a certain amount of gumming up of the fuel system, so a propietary fuel system cleaner might be a good idea. And ride it hard a few times.
