Getting a good read from your alternator? All connections right, tight, and corrosion free?
**Gadz, just in case I missed the opportunity, welcome to the forums, clee. Give us an update on the problem. We can likely get you moving again.

Have you installed any other lights on your ride? bulb changes?
The rectifier inspection: Check the resistance of the diode in both directions, if any diode shows low or high resistance in both directions, the diode is defective and the rectifier must be replaced. (zx-11 manual)
Regulator inspection: Sounds like you have already done that to determine it bad and needing replaced according to your post.
Alternator inspection: Check all leads making sure that they are tight and clean.
If the bike is running and the battery voltage is 13.5v or higher, then the charging system is working. If the voltage is higher than 13.5v while the engine is running, check the regulator. (which you have done).
If the voltage goes lower than the 13.5v while the bike is running, check the carbon brushes, slip rings, rectifier, starter coil and rotor coil
This is all quoted out of my zx-11 manual but the basics are still there to verify on yours.
