Default break-in period

I know I'm not supposed to go above 4000 rpm, but my Ninja 250 only goes up to 35 mph at that engine speed, even in 6th gear. Is this normal?

The best advice I can give you is; just ignore it. That's Kawasaki's "safety breakin" rev limit. In fact, getting the revs up periodically will help seat the piston rings, giving your engine better compression and oil control. I'm not saying that you should ride the bike hard, but it IS ALRIGHT to get the revs up while riding your bike during breakin.

4000rpm, 6th gear and at 35mph? This seems kinda odd in my thinking.

Mototune break in, but for you its too late. Has to be done in the first 20 miles.

But everyone has to decide for themselves, however because I bought 4 extra years on top of the manufactures 1 year warranty, I figured that if something went wrong I was covered. And it didn't so bonus.

Sad, but true. Stock gearing on the 250's suck.

So....exactly how fast will it go at "top end?" 35mph at 4K in top gear doesn't leave much room for neck-snapping roll-on's.
Ugh. [:'(]

Forget the 4000 rpm sticker. Just ride it like you want, its got a warranty, and if it doesn't break in the first year then its not going to break. Exception: EMS[&:]

I've had mine to about 105. (Accounting for speedo error.) Not too bad for only 250cc's

That sounds more like it. Setup right, cornering at 105 would make me happy. Heck cornering period would make me happy.
