02 zx6r having trouble starting
hi all,
i have a 02 zx6r and over the last week i have been having trouble getting it started in the mornings. i will crank it for 4-5 seconds about 8-9 times before it finally fires up.
generally in the past i just give it a tiny bit of throttle and hit the starter and it fires within a second, now it takes several minutes. i feel like im hurting the bike running the starter this much.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
russell

Shouldn't need to give it any throttle when it's cold. Are you using the choke or not? Plugs may be fouled, battery not holding enough of a charge. I'd check the plugs and battery.

edit: there are carbs on that there ride. Was trying to post the fiche.
I have to use the choke when it is cold outside, but not in the warm weather. Once in a while it seems to take a little longer to start though. How long did you have to crank it?
today it was fine. i washed it a while back and maybe some water got into somthing. anyways, it seems to be starting fine now. i will write back if it happens some more.
thanks,
russell
