bike beginner question!!!
Hi,
I have a few question that someone might be able to help me with.
I have a zzr600 2007 with about 1400 miles.
Now I was wonderinghow high myrpm's should go on each gear. Is there a limit or a safe point because I know it red lines at about 14,000 and was wondering ifit issafe to go up to 14,000 rpm's on each gear?
Second question is when coming to a light can I just hold in the cluth and shift all the way down to firstand stop? Or should I shift downthen let the clutch and repeat this for all 6 gears?
Thanks

from what i understand you shouldnt go all the way to 14 in each gear...you can hear when you need to shift. second you can ride the clutch because motorcycles have wet clutches..the clutch is basically in a tub of oil so it allows you to ride on it.
I dont see how the gear your in affects the RPM's the engine is spinning. Did the bike get a proper break in, if so, I wouldn't worry too much about reaching near redline in all gears, unless you do it all the time. You dont reach redline in every gear before you shift do you?
There wouldnt be a problem redlining every gear other than causing a bit more wear down the line. But there is no point, especially in traffic, its loud and throttle control is very fickle. My bike redlines at 12, I can get in front at a redlight shifting at 5, and I've found that 4 makes it really smooth for a gentle ride. I never rev over 6k unless I'm enjoying myself
