RE: average mileage per full tank
I haven't "ran it dry" yet, I normally fuel up when the light goes off, but I would have atleast 150+ miles on it by that point. So, if I don't twist too much I can get 40mpg in my 4.9gal tank. Light goes on when I'm down to .9gal left in tank is what the manual says.

remo.. after the light comes on you have 150 miles left in the tank?? that sounds odd.. my buddy's R6 had 25-30 miles after the light came on
my bike before i did the sprockets I was able to go about 200 miles before I would have to hit the reserve
now I'm lucky to get 150 out of a tank [:@]

onewheel, you got it backwards...the amount that I've put on it already would be 150+, then my light goes on. Lately, my light comes on when I hit the 160 miles on the trip meter. I know I can get atleast another 20+ miles but I usually fill it within 10 miles.

so, if you have a hundred and fifty miles when you need to switch to reserve, and there is 1.1 gallons left in the reserve tank. (from owners manual) that would average out to about 37-38 miles to the gallon. not bad...

Just a different part of the tank Alex. On mine (I have an EX 500) there is a switch on the clutch side of the bike. It says On, Off, Reserve. One of the other guys might be able to explain it better though. I'm new to all this myself
