93 vulcan 750 wont start
[:@][:@][:@]I put in a brand new Interstate battery and a OEM starter{400.00!!!!} but when i hit the start button the engine does not spin over it only drags a couple of times i release the start button and try it again with the same result.This problem did not happen overnight but over a period of about 3 weeks until it got to the point to where i am at now with the bike not starting. during this 3 week period when the bike was runing it never had any rough idle or hesitation at all.
I did noticed the teeth on the starter spur gear has a curved wear in the center of them. and the screws holding the cover on is partly rounded out.
Question:is this the possible problem and is it a job that can be done by me? { i repair and run maintance on machinery for a living}
Thank you to all that respond
Jim

First the genuine Kawasaki manual is the way to go . About $ 50 . Second I doubt it is the actual starter button as to the root cause of your problem . Next for a FREE pic you can always look at www.ronayers.com They have OE on line microfiche .
Just plug in your year / make / and model . Then scroll to the parts your looking to see pics of . BUT this will not tell you how to FIX
a problem just a guide of parts and if you good you can see how they assemble together .
Now are you able to PUSH START the bike ? I will be checking in every hour or so to see what we can do .
I also need mileage / maintenance ( is it well taken care of ? )

I'll order the Kawasaki manualThe speedometer said 20,100 when i bought it 2 months ago the person a got it from was moving out of town the oil and plugs were clean and it started without using the choke after being parked overnight but the condition of the starter spur gear leads me to believe that maybe it has more miles on the bike than is what is on the speedometer. i won't be able to try and push start it till wed. afternoon.i will post results then.
Thanks,
