2nd gear.
I have an 04 636 with about 16k miles on it. I recently bought it in May. At various times driving down the highway and accellerating rapidly I have a hard time shifting into second gear, it just stops in Nuetral. Last night I took her to the drag stip and same thing all three times I went, it would not shift into second right away. I would shift it, it would go into neutral then I would go back to shift again and it was fine. When making the trip back around it would go just fine, it's on rapid accelleration. So on the way home I was playing at stop lights and signs about shifting without using the clutch. The first time around it shifted very hard into second and sort of slammed it in gear, then went through the rest smooth as can be. At the next stop sign it wouldn't shift into second at all without me pushing in the clutch.
I have a Ford F-150 that needs a new transmission for it shifts into second gear very hard. Do bikes have a transmission like my truck and could this be the problem? How do I fix it?

a lot of the sportbikes are known to have second gear shift fork issues -- forks wearing out, shift drums wearing out, shift forks bending.
I picked up a spare set of shift forks and drums for my 96zx6r so i could cryo treat and surface harden them to last longer incase mine ever develops that problem.

Question: What oil are you running?
Question: Are you a positive shifter during your above examples?
I know, no answers, just questions.
Hey LilNinja76, what trans is in your F150? If it's a 4R70W, they are notorious for the 1/2 accumulator springs to break causing late/slamming 1-2 shifts. I work for a stealership and I'm the tranny guru..............very easy fix! Drop the pan, and it's in the front left corner. Use a standard gear puller diagonally across 2 of the pan bolts to push in the piston a little, then pop out the snap ring, pull out the guts, replace the springs and piston. Shouldn't cost more than $75 including a filter and fluid. Wala...........
