Just got a 98 mule to cruise around at Barona Speedway in the pits. The oil seal on the shaft was leaking. I discovered the shaft had too much play in it. Took off the side cover of the crankcase only to discover that the bearing for the shaft was the aluminum crankcase cover! Steel spinning against never works for long, so the crank and the side cover both have to be replaced. I CAN REBUILD A SMALL BLOCK CHEVY CHEAPER!!! I was wondering if anyone has explored the idea of having the crank machined and crankcase machined to allow for the installation of a REAL bearing...
