2009 KLX250 SF: no 1st or 2nd gear
Hey all,
I am hoping I can get some help here. I was screwing around in my yard Friday night and dumped the 'tard. Bent the clutch lever, handlebars, and shifter; nothing too bad. ...well, that is what I thought. It also will not shift into first or second gear, only 3rd - 6th. Anybody give me suggestions on what it could be. I doubt I could take it in under warranty because it is a 'user caused' issue, but I guess it would not hurt to ask the dealer. I am waiting for business hours to call my insurance to see if they would cover it, but figured I would get y'alls opinions and thought too.
Thanks for any help,
--Jess

Just an update in case anyone else has this problem. The 'gear shift drum cam' broke the 2nd gear pin so that the gear change mechanism could not grab the cam and shift the bike into 2nd gear (must have been in 2nd when I dumped it). About a $30 part at my local dealer; and had it the next day. I opted to also buy the gasket rather than cut my own (bad experiences cutting them), it was $10 from the dealer. If you have all the parts and tools, it is about a 30 minute job.
Just having the same problem. Any chance you have instructions on how to do the job?
