i just got back from riding about 100 miles....everything was perfect
got home drove it into the garage and there was a 2x4 in the way as i was rollin forward so it stopped and stalled on me....so i go to start it again and noticed everything was dead....no lights no starter or anything

could the battery or alternator be dead? if not what else? fuse maybe? if any1 has any ideas that would be great but its an 03 ninja 500r with only 2300 miles on it...its got an extended warranty so im just going to call up to the dealer and have it towed but if i could get it fixed before then that would be great

Your on the right track, check the bat first. Do you have a multi meter to check the voltage?

 

that would be a negative

 

My r1 had same simptons and it turned out to be a fried wire connection. Check under the seat and tank. If nothing tonight use your warranty.

 

i found a multimeter is my brothers toolbox....checked the batt 12.5v so the battery is fine...gotta be a fried something but ya ill call the dealer when they open on tues
any idea if its free towing under warranty or should i call AAA?

 

Ther is still no lights or starter. Check the wiring. Not sure about the towing but I bet it doesn't cover it. I hate it when the dealer is closed on sunday. Hey but it gives you more time to find the problem and fix it yourself. What about the fuses?

I here ya bro I am no mechanic by no means but I am learning my way around. Get your manual out tommorrow there is a lot of usefull info in there. It's in the trunk probably LOL.
