I've recently been given a 92 KX80 to rebuild in my spare time. My question is regarding compatibility of pieces from different model years. As I understand it, bikes 92-97 are compatible with each other, 98 and up are different. My question is this, besides plastics, what exactly is different? I understand components are upgraded over the years, but which parts can be interchanged? Fork? Wheels? Clamp? Also, there is a kx100 top end available to me, will it bolt up? Any and all help is very much appreciated.
I did a search for KX compatibility and found this thread. This guy asked a question that has been viewed 1,407 times and NOBODY could spare 5 minutes of their time to answer it?
You realize that for every question posted, there are probably at least 10 other people that have the same question?
I have 4 KX80's from 91 to 99 that I just picked up as projects. I have never owned a Kawi before, so I am trying to find out if the KX85 plastics from 2000 to 2010 or so will fit on a 99 KX80. Can anybody answer that one?
