1980 kz1000 classic issues
Hi my name is Dustin. I was given a 1980 kz1000 classic(non running). I was told the injectors where not made anymore but I have since found them. My question is would I be better off replacing the injectors or going with a carb conversion? Also is there a carb kit that is a direct bolt on or would there be any modifications involved. Thank you for you time and help.

Welcome to the forums....
I think they made 4 or 5 different models of KZ1000 in 80, and I recall all of them being carb'ed. Am I wrong?
Do you have a picture? That would be cool. Just to satisfy my curiousity. lol

Amazing!!
Everyone was experimenting with injectors back then, getting the idea from diesel engines (which are all injected systems). But back then, injector pressure determined RPM, just as in diesels. So trying to increase injector pressure instantly for acceleration, was nearly impossible (and expensive). A few companies figured it out (BMW, Honda, etc...) but it didn't become common place until the patents ran out 10 years later.
Lil trivia for ya....
SO.....
Stay with the injectors, and be sure to replace all rubber parts involved, to avoid leaks in that old of a machine. You can also get the injectors re-built. Just look around.
