Question 1980 KZ 750 LTD backfiring

I put my bike in the shop a few weeks ago to have the carbs cleaned/rebuilt, when I got it back it ran WAY better. Unfortunately after a solid day of riding, it started backfiring and idling kind of randomly. Is this a timing issue that I can resolve by installing an electronic ignition or should I take it back to the shop and ask them to take another look? Thanks!

I could be ignition/timing that you are noticing now that it is running decent. How do the plugs look? You could check your manual on the timing marks just in case. It is most likely a carb mixture and tune combination. Generally it is the carb mixture and adjustment. What area are you riding in? With a stock exhaust, etc? Good luck on the find.
