Respect, if others had respect for other peopls stuff no one would need a security system, but thats never going to happen + 1 to hoedogg the scorpion is the best theft dederent ive found and is a Darn good investment for your ride.

thats why i carry my gear
Yeah, I figured that is the way I would have to go with my stuff. I'm looking at buying one of those backpacks that has a section for your helmet (I'm in college). As for that Scorpion system, I'll try to get it as a Christmas present too , because I can't afford it otherwise. Ofc, my bike won't be worth 10k either, haha.

Most bikes you can lock your helmet under the rear seat by a small clip. I never do because it's too much monet to replace. What would keep someone from just cutting the strap? If you worried about your bike in a parking lot or something just carry a kryptonite front disc lock in your pocket.
disc locks are nice, but I'm more worried about someone just putting it in the back of their truck and driving off, than I am someone jacking the ignition and riding off. Disc locks don't help with the 1st problem.

After looking at several of the options for overnight security chains, I think I'm just going to go the hardware store and buying the thickest chain I can find, and a large lock. All of the name-brand chains are just overpriced, mostly normal big chains[:'(] I live in apartments, so I've got to do something...

And the Kryptonite disc lock for whenever I'm out and about.

It's more worth it for a bike over a car, IMO.

I got my chain on sale at cyclegear for 40 bucks. I think its pretty heavy duty the thing is over 30lbs. I keep it locked around my bike and a woodent post that holds up the roof to the car part at my apartment.
