What is this "Riding Season" you speak of? We don't have anything like that in GA

Oh yes, go ahead, bring me down some more. For me riding season is over when by butt freezes to the seat and my co-workers greet me with saying: "are you completely out of your mind??!!!"

i have little experience on dry pavement so far and i had the wonderful lesson of rain like 2 days ago. interesting. i was honestly prolly scared outta my mind cuz im not past being able to trust myself and my bike yet and my rear tire is BALD!!! i had a little tail-wag here and there but it was a fun experience and now i have much much more trust in my bike (tho i REALLY need a tire [:@]). i'll do it more but when it's 40 degrees out and raining it's not that comfortable so i took her home and traded for 4 wheels and a heater.

i know, my buddy already told me i was a puss haha

I could not bother to go through the 5 odd pages of replies but most of what I read at the beginning is true, slow down. The worst part about rain is when it just starts. That is the worst time. All the oil left on the road by the cages combines with the water and makes the road as slick as snot. After it has been raining for a small amount of time and the traffic has passed down the road a while, all that crap washes away some and your tires grip better. If it starts to rain, pull over where it is safe, wait 15 to 20 minutes depending on how hard the rain is, and carry on. All in all, slow down and make youself as visable as possible.

theres no way im practicing riding in the rain. ive got stuck in it twice and i learned alot. never down shift w/o using the brake. my rearend was sliding all over.
Of course you can downshift without using the brake without braking traction I do it almost every time I downshift, just blip the throttle as you downshift to match the revs to the transmission speed. Learn to do it in the dry then you will know how to in the wet. Oh yeah my bike is a single it will break traction a LOT easier than your 4

know your ride. I can pop down 3 gears on the 7 or the 10 on a reference mark beforehitting a corner. Knowing your ride and blipping the throttle when needed to settle the chassis.
