you sure this is the right thread there tx.

from what i've read about polishing. take a wire wheel and remove all the paint, then sand it down using finer grit paper each time until you get to like 1200 or so, then i believe you have to use a 2-3 step polishing compount to get the shine out. I've never done it but I've seen the results many times.

i about busted a nut reading your "thread" comment to tx. i was thinking the same thing. i appreciate your info and as far as responding to tx, i would never let someone else touch my bike. See, i'm new to the bike scene, but that doesn't mean i don't work on my own equipement. i build lifted trucks, i slam cars, i design and construct houses, i do artwork for bands, the list goes on and these are all just hobbies outside of my 8-5 job. i don't want to cut my fairings not because i'm intimidated by it, but im laying out new graphics i'm spaying this week and it will interupt my scheme to punch holes in the fairings.

if your laying out new graphics and gona put a new top coat on, then i would highly recommend cutting the holes first, they way you can spray clear on the unpainted edge of the hole

Believe it or not, there's actually a write up on polishing frames etc, in the DIY......lol. I wouldn't have thought of anyone doing it, that's a lot of work.
