once you pass and get the cert, you take that to the dmv and get your pic taken. you do not have to take the road test at the dmv if you have completed a course and have the certificate.

This sucks.

I went to the DMV, presented my MSF certificate -REJECTED- [:@]

As I suspected, the class I took at the San Diego Motorcycle School is not an accredited course. Don't get me wrong, it was very informative and the instructors were great, but it doesn't get you the magic piece of paper to waive the on-bike test. I will probably take the 15 hr CHP course, anyway, since it never hurts to get more training. I may even get to meet Ponch & John!

Oh well.. I have no immediate need for the license since I commute 6 miles to work (no freeway), work in the day, and can't imagine putting a passenger on my little 250. I'm just pissed cuz I spent my whole lunch hour at the DMV for nothing.

they didnt give you the accredited course speach right from the get go ? as soon as they mentioned they were not i would of been out the door looking to go to a accredited class. or did you know this going in ? but hell the dmv course on a 250 would be easy to do.

ha ha thats too funny.... dude that sux..... but taking the road course at the dmv with a 250 would be a breeze.... when i took my road course at the dmv, there was a guy ahead of me doing his.... he was on an older 1000..... and he was about 5' 5"..... this was back in 95 when 1000's were still big and bulky....

hey evil nina, whats going on brother....

It didn't matter, because at the time, I didn't even know that there was such a cert to waive the test. I just cared about learning to reduce the risk and staying alive.

I haven't even seen the DMV course, but I'm already having nightmares about the dreaded "circle". Most people advise against using any type of sportbike for the test. Any advice?

yes, dont use a sport bike lol. on the 250 youll smoke that test, go to your local dmv when its closed and practice. most of what you learned at the msf class is what they test you on, basic manuvers and riding in a circle and braking hard.

I don't know if the ride tests are different in California than in Utah, but mine wasn't too bad. I just practiced having a lot of control going slow and I aced it. There were 7 different manuevers you had to do and the only two that I thought were a little difficult were the cones and the shart U turn. You could get a total of 10 points against you, anything more was a fail. Putting your foot down was 5points and hitting a cone was 8. I also did it with my 600 ninja. Just need to have some good control at slow speeds
