i have nearly 700 miles on my 500r when should i change the oil and what kinda should i use?

 

I would change it now. I will not get into an oil debate, but I use amsoil in mine.

 

Nothing wrong with changing oil early and throwing on a new filter before its needed

I second Amsoil...all in favor? all opposed? The Amsoil users have it. LOL

 

Been a Mobil-1 guy for 30 years. I'd probably give it at least 1K miles on a fresh motor. The important thing is to keep varying your rpm to get a good run-in on the hard parts; i.e., don't stay at 5-6K revs for (interstate) running. Perhaps AS important as the oil, is to use a quality filter. I'd stay away from Fram; go with a WIX or Baldwin.
