Default Motorcycle Title Search VIN

I am considering buying a used ZX9R, and was wanting to run a title history. I have the VIN, but can't find anyplace that checks motorcycle VIN numbers. Carfax says that it is an invalid VIN. Does anyone know where I can check a motorcycle VIN. Thanks.

You will probably need the title number. Go to the state DMV website.

Just go to http://motorcycle.progressive.com/ and enter zip exc... go through the steps for a new policy and when it comes to the bike info just type in the Vin and it will bring up the info on the bike .

Thanks for the replies. I did the Progressive site, and that verifies that it is in fact a 2002 ZX9, but no other history (# of owners, salvage/rebuilt title, etc.). DMV is closed (Holiday) and I need to make a decision today.

ugh , That kinda stinks that you gotta let the dude know soon , I'd say try and push it up one day so you can at least properly check the history of the bike . That and keep in mind winter is comng up for us seasonal riders soon and from what I hear in the fall / winter months you can usually find really good deals on bikes . Good luck with the bike if you end up getting it though .
