Default 1996 ZX-6R VIN Location

I can’t seem to find the VIN on my bike, a 96 ZX-6R. Kawa says it should be on the steering head, but nothing is stamped there. There is a smooth part where I would guess the VIN would be stamped but I can't find a thing.

I had that prob till a cop showed me. Take off your back seat and if your at the back of your bike look along the inside to the right. Vice versa if your at the front. Its inside never the less. Also there's supposed to be a stamped VIN on the neck between your steering head and forks.

It's on the neck. Some race bikes have the factory replacement frames without any number at all. I hope you have some documentation if that is the case.
