Default Maintenance fees!!!!

Ok I just got done putting over 600 miles on my zx10 and called the dealer to see how much it was going to cost me to do the regular maintenance on it, well he says it will total up to 200 dollars, so I was like dam!!, so besides the oil and oil filter change they do the chain tension see if the throttle needs adjusting and check all the fluids, clean and regrease the chain. So my question is to you guys and gals should I pay the money and say the hell with it, or should I do the oil change my self only thing is that I dont have alot of the tools to check the tension on the chain and my throttle feels fine to me so I dont really see the need to get it adjusted. If I change the oil and filter my self it will cost me 30 dollars. So if any one knows the big deal of taking it to the dealer and get it checked out let me konw why to do it if not I think Im going to knock out the oil change my self.

I am with the DIY thing for sure! F-the stealership. Buy a maintenance manual and it will walk you through everything form adjusting the tensioner to valve adjustment and everything in between.

You will also get to grow your tool collection and that is always a good thing.

I made the dealer give me scheduled maintenance for 2 years, but I asked, and they sad as long as you keep receipts you won't void your warranty. You mat have to prove you've done all the required maintenance if something go awry.

I'm with notstock on this one. Why take it to the stealership and pay twice the amount when you can do it for half or less of there price.

$200 can buy the factory manual and still get a couple of tools.

200? That would buy. . . . (thinks) 40 pitchers of beer here at the local bar! [sm=icon_cheers.gif](excluding tips of course)

DIY! That sounds like the ticket
