Default KLX 250 EFI - 300cc conversion

Hello everyone, ive just acquired a 2009 KLX 250 EFI -UK
I want to increase the low and mid range power as its just hopeless off road at present.
Its stock apart from a Tsunaki (never heard of it either) slip on exhaust

I have read pages and pages of forums regarding the mods and difficulties encountered with this bike.
My thoughts so far regarding mods are;

1) up 3 teeth on the rear sprocket
2) Fit link to clutch switch to remove 4,5,6th gear restriction
3) Investigate the throttle stop and second butterfly?
4) insert the DB killer that came with my bike, as it already feels lean

I want to install the 300cc Barrel & Piston, BUT i cannot find a definite answer to which fuel controller is up to the job

Power Commander seems to be favourite
EJK/dobeck/juicebox has alot of bad press
API is just not practical as its Thailand and im in the UK

Anybodys thoughts or experience in this would be greatly appreciated!!

What is this 4-6 restriction you speak of? Is there some restriction in the UK that makes it fit a license niche? I don't think there is any restriction here except for the strangulation of the small exhaust header and muffler, along with lean jetting to meet EPA standards.

Do a search here for KLX250 hop up and do the same in a google search. You will find where there are jetting recommendations and exhaust header suggestions.

My understanding is that the EFI bikes (those sold outside USA/Canada) are fitted with a restriction to the RPM's in 4,5,6 gear. There's some adjustment of some sort that can be done that eliminates this - something to do with the clutch switch?

Hi, yes the 4-6th gear restriction is part of the program on the ECU - it just restricts the revs in these gears.

Im more interested in the success of fuel controllers used in conjunction with a 300cc conversion

EJK is alot cheaper than the power commander and autotune

Who is happy with there EJK controller? And which mods are appropriate?
