I know understand the love
For those who don't know me (which is everyone on this board pretty much). I purchased a KE100 this summer to ride back and forth to work to save gas. Got my license, rode it around for a couple/few months and got the bug. So I went shopping and found a deal on a 1988 750R. Now I truly understand the love of being bored, jumping on the bike (proper attire of course) and just hitting the road for hours. I did it for the first time today. Went for a 3 hour cruise with no where to go. Felt great!! 74 degrees, small wind, but clear. I've been a mustang/drag racer for years, but this is just unexplainable the way it feels to cruise around on the Ninja! Of course I forsee me wanting something newer someday, but for now the 88 will do. I need to find some right plastic and get some exhaust that isn't so loud (muzzy muffler with NO packing I think)
Side note-how hard is it to change the idle on these things? It idles around 750rpm which seems low. It wants to die sometimes.

There is a small black plastic **** on my '81 KZ 750 that is located behind the carbs
Clockwise to idle her up, counter clockwise to idle down
I suggest you turn no more than on-quarter to one half turn and run her a while.
If you turn it too far it'll be a real pain getting her back to the correct "set point"

I saw that **** when I was taking the sides apart to check the air filter. to my Surprise (since I kind of bought it blind) it has a K&N filter kit on it. They were black as heck. Needless to say, I'm waiting for the filters to dry as I type.
Thanks for the tip. After cleaning up the K&N filters and crank breather I warmed the bike up and turned that ****. Took it for a test drive and adjusted it at stop signs (on side streets so I was holding up traffic). I had to rinse the filters out with the cleaner 5 times, but they look new now. One was rubbing on something though and it rubbed through the metal mesh, but the filter it's self is ok.
It seemed to be. I'm having my doubts it ever got jetted for the exhaust and filters though. I'm waiting for my manual to get here so I can change the plugs and start going through it a little more. Being my first "big" motorcycle I'm not sure how to get to the plugs so I don't just want to tear into it.
As you know, most of it is common sense. But hell yeah on getting the tq numbers in front of you or tagging this hose or that. My hat is off to ya.
