Default High Idle 3K

Hi all,
Just brought my bike out of its' hibernation and it started right up (Yay) but it idles at 3K. I used stabil before I put her away could this be the reason for the higher RPMs? This is my first time bringing a bike out of slumber and I thought I would check. It is a 86' 750 Vulcan btw.

May be cold. What happens if you unstick your choke? I am sure that the cable was lubed. right?

After further inspection I believe that my choke cable may be stuck. It normally is at 3K full choke and 1100 without. I went out to start it cold and it started right up without the choke...that doesn't normally work. when I apply the choke when the bike is running there is no change in RPMs. Can anyone tell me how to check and or fix the problem?

how does the choke lever react? Does it move back and forward easily? Check on the net or your factory manual on how to lube it. Then check the numbers of freeplay your manual states. In other words, check your manual. A good resource to own. Good luck.

Turns out it was the choke cable. Easy fix from my local Kaw dealer. Doesn't hurt that the owner is one of my student's parents. But overall got a good report and am ready to ride. Had the front barkes replaced while I had it in the shop. Thanks for your responses.
